Place your thumb and forefinger about six to eight inches from your ear and rub them together. Do you hear any friction noise? If not you may need to ask yourself:
-
Do I turn up the television or radio to the point where others complain?
-
Do I strain to hear conversation, misunderstand words or often ask people to repeat themselves?
-
Do I watch the speaker’s face intently when they talk?
-
Am I tired or frustrated at the end of the day from the strain of trying to hear?
-
Do I feel isolated or avoid social situations because of my hearing?
-
Do I accuse others of mumbling or not speaking clearly?
-
Do I hear well one on one, but have trouble when another speaker or competing noise is introduced?
-
Does my hearing cause family arguments?
-
Has my family or friends suggested I have my hearing tested?
If you find yourself answering positively to two or more of these questions, a hearing evaluation is in order. Act now, don't waste any more time and don't miss out on the good times.
